Even the most casual UCLA football fan knows that the Bruins are going to be extremely good this year. Pre-season awards, highly projected rankings and the basic knowledge that head coach Jim Mora is developing a monster of a program is enough to prove that UCLA is deserving of these many accolades. Some even consider the Bruins to go 12-0 in the season, win the Pac-12 Championship Game and make the final four of the first ever College Football Playoffs. We are not saying it cannot happen, there just needs to be several improvements for UCLA to work on before there can be that kind of talk.

Several of UCLA’s problems have been improved with depth. Development is not an issue as we have seen the coaching staff make strides with many players. Other thinks have to do with improving discipline, which will be a key in UCLA ability to take the Pac-12. The Bruins need to make the jump to an elite status if they want to make national headlines. This year, being just good enough will not cut it. UCLA has to find a way to be great.
