The water main that broke on Sunset Blvd. near the campus of UCLA has done a number to several areas in the northern part of campus, particularly, to many athletic facilities. As of now, it is estimated that 10 million gallons of water gushed out of an old, decrepit water pipe that was well past it’s prime. As of now, the extent of the damage has yet to be determined, but here are several updates regarding the UCLA campus and its facilities.

According to UCLA Newsroom, a 93-year old pipe burst at about 3:39 p.m. PT. The flood waters had made its way to the intramural field, Drake Stadium, Acosta Center, Arthur Ashe Center, Pauley Pavilion, Parking Lots 4 and 7, J.D. Morgan Center, the Wooden Center and even down to Bruin Plaza. Pauley Pavilion and Drake Stadium had recently undergone renovations, which makes this incident a tough one for UCLA to endure.

UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero had made a statement in regards to the flood entering Pauley Pavilion, which seems to have sustained the most damage. His statement was released via uclabruins.com:
"Regarding specific inquiries and concerns about Pauley Pavilion, most people are aware by now that the floor and locker rooms sustained significant flooding. The water will be removed from the floor tonight. We will then reassess the situation tomorrow morning and be able to provide additional information at the appropriate time."
For those that have had vehicles stranded in the wake, should contact UCLA Sustainability.
