That roar you just heard from Westwood was the sound of Jim Mora and his staff cheering tonight, as UCLA football pulled off a huge recruiting coup with the commitment from 24/7 Composite 3-star WR/DB Stephen Johnson III (San Leandro, CA). Johnson made his pledge to the Bruins tonight on ESPNU’s telecast from Nike’s The Opening camp in Beaverton, OR.

As we profiled on Go Joe Bruin recently, Johnson is a dynamic athlete who will bring 4.37 speed and electric playmaking ability to the Rose Bowl. He is exactly the type of playmaker UCLA currently lacks on its depth chart and he will fill a huge need going forward.
With 24/7 Composite 4-star offensive tackle and UCLA lean Andre James (Herriman, UT) set to announce his own commitment at The Opening on national TV Thursday night, a good week could very well become a truly great week for the Bruins on the recruiting trail in the next 48 hours.
A hearty 8-Clap to the UCLA’s Northern California recruiter (and D-line coach) Angus McClure, wide receivers coach Eric Yarber, defensive backs coach Demetrice Martin, and the rest of the staff for coming from behind to beat Oregon for Johnson’s commitment. And more importantly: welcome to Westwood, SJIII!
