Bruins Honored At Year-End Banquet, Kyle Anderson Named MVP

The UCLA basketball team held their year-end banquet on Monday night with sophomore Kyle Anderson winning the Coach John Wooden Award as the team’s Most Valuable Player. Anderson led the team in rebounds and assists with 8.8 and 6.5 per game, respectively. He was also second on the team in points with 14.6.


The banquet, which was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, had honored several Bruins for their achievements this past season. Here is the list of the honorees:

Gerald A. Finerman Award (Leading Rebounder) – Kyle Anderson

UCLA Alumni Association Award (Leader In Assists) – Kyle Anderson

J.D. Morgan Memorial Award (Outstanding Team Player) – Jordan Adams

Bob “Ace” Calkins Memorial Trophy (Top Free Throw Shooters) – Jordan Adams and Travis Wear

Bruin Bench Award (Most Improved All-Around Play And Attitude) – Norman Powell and Tony Parker

UCLA Faculty Athletic Representative Award (Academic Achievement) – Aubrey Williams

Elvin C. Ducky Drake Memorial Award (Competitive Spirit, Inspiration and Contributions) – Travis Wear

Irv Pohlmeyer Memorial Trophy (Top Defensive Players) – Norman Powell and David Wear

Seymour Armond Memorial Award (Most Valuable Freshmen) – Bryce Alford and Zach LaVine
