UCLA Football Recruiting: CB Jermaine Kelly Likely De-Commits, According To Report

facebooktwitterreddit

With UCLA’s recruiting hitting its stride in landing some serious offensive line talent, the Bruins may have lost a four-star defensive back in Jermaine Kelly, according to Gerard Martinez.

Here’s the tweet, which should be taken with a grain of salt because we’re posting this as early as possible:

Of course, this could be a serious decommitment, both because Kelly is a talented cornerback and because UCLA’s defensive back recruiting has seen sparse commitments. UCLA now has just Mossi Johnson in the secondary, which could be serious problems considering UCLA is already deathly thin at that spot.

The Bruins are recruiting heavily Tahaan Goodman, but he’s far from a choice at this point. Priest Willis, a five-star CB, is still on the table, but competition for his signing will be difficult.

Johnny Johnson has UCLA as his front-runner but he has yet to verbally commit; he four-star corner out of Fresno, CA, is still considering Washington and Cal.

Overall, if the loss of Jermaine Kelly is confirmed, it is devastating for a class that’s stretching it thin in the secondary.

We’ll have more when this is confirmed.
