UCLA Football Recruiting: A Quick Look at 4-Star DB Johnny Johnson

facebooktwitterreddit

UCLA is taking a hard look at Johnny Johnson, a defensive back from Central High.

With Aaron Hester, Sheldon Price and Andrew Abbott graduating from UCLA, they must fill the void. Johnson would fit the role perfectly. He stands at 5’10 but he makes up for his size. Johnny is a miniature Tevin McDonald; he is a ball-hawk and a true “lumber-layer.” That being said, the Bruins have people ready to play at DB. Randall Goforth, Marcus Rios, Ishmael Adams and the returning Tevin McDonald are all on the depth chart at defensive back.

Johnny Johnson would fit perfectly in Spanos’ defensive scheme. He is a guy you can bring in occasionally to blitz and help defend against the run. A DB with these types of skills will be ready to step in and make an instant-impact.

Johnson, who lives in Fresno, CA, is getting looked at by Washington, Cal and ASU, along with many others. Prying Johnson will be tough, but if you’ve seen the recruits Mora pulled off, I’m confident that he can pry him and bring him to Westwood. Johnny is quickly on the rise; he’s that one recruit that always goes under-the-radar and then makes a huge impact at his respective university.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
