So, what went wrong last Saturday when UCLA lost to California? Well, just about everything. If you don’t like reading about criticism, don’t read this.
US PRESSWIRE
Brett Hundley threw 4 interceptions, and we lost 2 fumbles for a total of 6 turnovers. That right there won’t get it done, even against the Golden Bears. I am being completely honest, this was the worst I’ve seen this group play, we were confident that the streak would end, but we didn’t break it. Our secondary.. Just plain awful, I can’t deal with it anymore. They let Zach Maynard thrown for 295 yards, 4 TDs and a ridiculous 25-30. If they let Maynard torch them, just wait until we play Arizona. Their QB threw for 500 yards against Stanford, yes, 500 yards. This secondary needs to show significant improvement the rest of the season. Saturday’s game will decide our season. Apart from the secondary, our D-Line held their own and our LBs were laying hits on Maynard. Especially Anthony Barr. Cassius Marsh recovered 2 fumbles AND caught a TD pass, pretty impressive if you ask me.
Enough of the defense, let me rip Noel Mazzone for a minute. What is he thinking giving Franklin the ball just 18 times? Seriously? This offense is Taylor Made for JFrank, he is no doubt the heartbeat of our offense. I know Franklin is dealing with “nagging” injuries but I’d rather have him not play then to get only 18 touches. This Saturday vs. Utah won’t be easy either, Utah has one of the best D-Lineman in the country in Star Lotulelei. Running up the middle will be an epic F-A-I-L. That being said, RUN IT OUTSIDE, it’s that simple. Ok, on to Hundley. Ahh Mr. Hundley, you made some pretty crappy passes if I may say so. I know you’re a redshirt freshman, but c’mon, we’re playing Cal, not Alabama! I know people were giving him a free pass but I’m not, he needs to be criticized so he is motivated to excel on Saturday. Hundley was getting knocked around like a rag doll, that is all on our O-Line. I’m sure Adrian Klemm was giving them hell on the flight home from Berkeley. Hundley forced too many passes, that’s on him and on the O-Line because they were harassing him the whole entire game. Our receivers did their job again, minus Devin Fuller who fumbled a swing pass that in my opinion opened up the flood gates. I hate to blame a true freshman, but c’mon Devin, that was a perfectly placed ball. As for kicking, it’s becoming a joke now. Fairbairn just can’t do it, he missed an other FG against Cal. It’s time to bring in Locke, you can’t rely on a true freshman to be automatic, sorry guys.
That being said, I still believe in my Bruins. Let’s get the W Saturday! I say UCLA 28 Utah 13.
GO BRUINS!
