UCLA Football: Jim Mora’s Wife Thinks Cal’s Defense Plays Hard

The California defense this season has been underachieving thus far in 2012.

Of course, the Golden Bears’ defensive unit was given some lofty expectations this season by Pac-12 pundits. Given the front seven that the Bears possess, it’s hard not to expect them to be one of the best in the Pac-12, if not the nation.

But they’ve held their own sometimes, and Jim Mora noticed. More importantly, Jim Mora’s wife noticed.

Here’s a video of the quote, which begins at the 0:30 mark.

Here it is, transcribed:

"I woke up this morning at 3 a.m. and my wife, Shannon, was sitting in bed and she was watching Cal’s defense — I’m not kidding you — and she said, ‘Gosh, these guys play hard.’ And so if my wife notices it, it’s noticeable.”"

You know how good Jim Mora is at coaching football? He’s so good that he’s been forcing his wife to watch game film and sit in her bed until she has a full scouting report ready for him. You thought there was a culture change going on in Westwood? Please, there’s a culture change going on in Jim Mora’s bedroom, too.

Or perhaps this was probably a little tease by Mrs. Mora. Multiple women have told me Jim Mora’s an attractive guy and he seems very physically fit. Add in a few drinks and the fact that it was 3 a.m. and we’re sure the tone was something like, “Gosh, these guys play hard.” That dawg, Jim Mora, what else can you say about this guy?

But really, props to Mora’s wife for noticing the California defense, and the Mora family is absolutely right: Cal has a really solid defense if they get it together, and considering the Golden Bears are at home, things could be a little difficult for Brett Hundley and co.

On an unrelated note, I’m single and I’m looking for a wife that knows a good D when she sees one. Hit me up on Twitter, ladies.
