The UCLA football team decided to do a little team bowling on Tuesday to become a more cohesive unit that can laugh and play together as well as work hard and suffer together.
Here’s the video, via UCLABruins.com, hosted by Damien Holmes, Tevin McDonald and Johnathan Franklin:
A couple of notes:
- Jerry Neuheisel was somehow able to video-bomb this one, too. He inches his way through at the 0:24 mark.
- Lou Spanos is the most reserved person on Jim Mora’s staff — he gives an awkward interview most times — but he seems to be super comfortable and has finally let his hair down (we know, we know: he’s bald). Check his interview at the 0:30 mark.
- Cornerback Anthony Jefferson is a horrible bowler (1:24 mark).
- Jim Mora is such a joker. When asked by Tevin McDonald what he expects out of the team with two days left of fall camp in San Bernardino, Mora says, “You didn’t get the memo? We’re staying another week.” He said it jokingly … right? Right? (2:38 mark)
Overall, the squad seemed to have a hell of a time, and that’s a good thing because while we’re all cool with them going super hard in practice, it’s important for a group to be cohesive and bond outside the context of football. A football team is more of a series of intertwined relationships than it is just a bunch of guys doing a job. Or a good football team is like that, at least.
Also, it’s fun to know that I’m better in at least one sport than most UCLA football players. I’ll take what I can get.
GO BRUINS!!!
