UCLA Football: Jim Mora And Company Recruiting Penn State Players

facebooktwitterreddit

In case you didn’t know, Penn State was involved in some kind of egregious scandal and a consequence of such a scandal is that their football players will be allowed to transfer without penalty and won’t count against the scholarship limit for the 2012-13 football season, U$C excluded (literally).

UCLA is one of the teams that is actively out there recruiting Penn State’s players, who may or may not be looking to get away from what could be a toxic environment, or at least an embarrassing one.

Here’s Edward Lewis — a damn good reporter for Scout — saying as much:

Of course, it’s fair to note that Penn State players were seeking out UCLA first. More from Ed:

He continues to note, though, that Adrian Klemm and the rest of his vaunted recruiting staff are all working to convert the Nittany Lions into Bruins. Penn State fans are getting to be pretty pissed, mind you, because it’s likely that a good chunk — albeit not a ton — will wind up transferring elsewhere at the thought of seeing bowl game opportunities being ripped from them.

FanSided’s own Penn State blogger and overall bad-ass has some good news for PSU fans and bad news for us, though. Check it:

Thirty-five are staying, he says, and that’s a hell of a number considering the school is now associated, nationwide, with child molestation committed by the asshole that is Jerry Sandusky.

We’ll see how these things develop, and though from a UCLA perspective we’d be down to bring on more BCS-level talent, it’s got to suck if you’re a Penn State student, alum or fan, seeing your players recruited, free agency-style.

Mixed feelings, but for the sake of UCLA, hopefully we can nab some talent.

GO BRUINS!!!
