UCLA Women’s Tennis Scrapes by sc, into NCAA finals!

This was a match that could not have been in more doubt. Things looked good when UCLA captured the doubles point, USC mounted some several comebacks from one set down. Eventually things were even at 3-3 before UCLA was able to clinch the last match, which went to the 3rd (and final set).

Major props to Robin Anderson, she was up big early in the first set but gave up her breaks and eventually lost in a tiebreaker. She eventually came back and dominated the last two sets, speaking volumes about her mental toughness. As long she doesn’t have the mental lapses that she did in the first set, she is definitely comparable to the best players in the nation (though she already is, as she is firmly in the top 10).

That’s right. UCLA Men’s Tennis is playing against sc in the semifinals of the NCAA tournament! Sounds familiar- let’s hope the result will be the same as the women’s. Both of these teams have the drive and ability to take home #109, (and maybe #110 as well), let’s just hope they have the luck to do so.
