UCLA Football: Jonathan Ogden elected to the College Football Hall of Fame
The UCLA Bruins have suffered from sub-par football seasons for the past few years, fortunately, the Bruins have one of their all-time best offensive lineman to bring up their spirits.
Earlier today, the great Jonathan Ogden was selected for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.
Ogden has his jersey number (79) retired courtesy of the Bruins, one of only eight players in Bruin history to received that honor.
For good reason too, Ogden has a long list of achievements while he was attending UCLA :
- 1996 NCAA Indoor Track Title (Shotput)
- Starting Left Tackle for 4 Years (Football)
- In 23 Games as Junior & Senior, Ogden Allowed Only 2 Sacks
- Outland Trophy
- Morris Trophy
- UPI Lineman of the Year
Ogden went onto becoming a 9-Time All Pro, 11-Time Pro Bowler (earning a trip to Hawaii every single year of his career except his rookie season), and a Super Bowl winner (2001) with the Baltimore Ravens (NFL) in all of his marvelous 12-season career.
Ogden currently resides in the general Baltimore area. He has starred in commercials for Apple Ford, a Baltimore-area dealership, and during his playing career appeared in TV advertisements for Gebco Insurance. He was present during the Ravens’ Super Bowl XXXV reunion in 2010. Unfortunately, Ogden has not visited the UCLA campus recently.
