Bruin Football Notes, Part Two

In the aftermath of that terrible disaster in Tucson, AZ…

Acording to the Los Angeles Times, coach Rick Neuheisel, when asked about highly touted freshman quarterback Brett Hundley playing against Arizona in the second half, when the game was already decided, said that his “…concern is Brett being ready to play.”

In other words, Neuheisel won’t play the five star QB until he’s sure he can handle Division 1 FBS football, which I agree with.

Hopefully Hundley can be ready sooner than later, as he’s now the backup to Kevin Prince and is only an injury away from being the guy.

Moving on…

After the Arizona fiasco I was watching a clip of cornerback Sheldon Price, on one particular play, falling over as he was pedalling backwards trying to cover his man, who was all alone as he caught a touchdown pass.

I’m not trying to blame Price for the Bruin defense’s woes, as that whole unit was taken to the proverbial woodshed and beaten like a running mule, but it was clear that he shouldn’t have been playing, especially considering the sprained right knee that had cost him the previous two games, which evidently hasn’t completely healed as he was a step slow all night.

Hopefully his knee will be better healed for the Cal game this Saturday.

By the way…

The starting time for the UCLA – Arizona State game at the Rose Bowl on November 5th has been set. Kickoff will be at 4:30 p.m. and Versus will televise the Bruin – Sun Devil match up.
