UCLA Bruin Sports Update

Here’s how the fall sports at UCLA are doing as of right now, October 17th:

Women’s Volleyball –  16-3, including a 9-2 record in the Pac-12 Conference, which is currently good for second place, ranked 6th in the country, beat Oregon in four sets this past Saturday at the Wooden Center, beat first place USC at the Galen Center earlier this year.

Women’s Soccer –  10-1-3, currently ranked 5th in the country. Tied Washington State in Pullman, WA in their last game. A 3-1-2 record in the Pac-12, will play Arizona at UCLA’s Drake Stadium this Friday night.

Men’s Soccer –  10-3-1, currently 9th or 10th ranked in the country depending on which poll you go by,  undefeated in the Pac-12 at 5-0, beat 14th ranked Santa Clara this past weekend, will play Cal State Northridge at Drake Stadium on the UCLA campus later this week.

Men’s Water Polo –  13-3, currently 3rd ranked in the country, beat top-ranked Stanford this past weekend and also beat then #1- ranked USC earlier this year in the second of three games with the Trojans. They have a 2-1 record in the Pac-12 as of this date.

Women’s Golf –  Defending national champions and currently the top-ranked team in the country. They recently won the Stanford Intercollegiate Tournament and will be in Knoxville, TN for the Pac 12 – SEC Challenge this Friday.

As one can see, all of these teams are doing rather well and enhancing UCLA’s reputation as a school with top all-around athletics.

Hopefully, one or more of these teams can bring home championship # 108 – or more – to Westwood.

If you want to see these teams play, the men’s and women’s soccer teams play at Drake Stadium on the UCLA campus, while the women’s volleyball team plies their wares in the John Wooden Center, as will the women’s basketball, men’s volleyball, and women’s gymnastics teams this school year, while Pauley Pavilion is undergoing its renovation.

The men’s water polo team plays their home games in the Spieker Aquatics Center on campus, as will their women’s counterparts when their season begins.

As for football, not only will I have a complete recap and analysis of their Thursday night match with Arizona in Tucson this Friday, but I’ll also have a “Bruins’ Keys To The Game” piece coming very soon. Until then…

Come out to UCLA and support these teams!
