It has been revealed that UCLA Football QB Josh Rosen has nerve damage in his shoulder and could be out for a while. What options does that give the Bruins on offense?

After being knocked out of the Arizona State game on October 8, Josh Rosen has not played the last two games and it looks like he will miss a few more. That is the situation with the UCLA Football team right now.

Josh Rosen is out indefinitely.

Head Coach Jim Mora talked about what is going on with Rosen and the nerve damage in his shoulder on Monday.

"The nerve has to start firing again. Once it starts firing again, he should be fine. It’s just a matter of when is it going to start firing again."

Rosen could be ready to play by the time the Colorado game rolls around or it is possible he could miss the rest of the season. No one knows. With that, expect Mike Fafaul to continue to take snaps with Devon Modster as the potential backup.

UCLA could face the reality that eight games into the season, they could burn Modster’s redshirt. Rosen is healthy enough to hand off a ball if Fafaul gets his helmet knocked off and has to sit for a play, but if Fafaul gets hurt, the coaches have to go with their true freshman.

It is also unknown how much they will rely on their passing game with their run game non-existent. Against Utah, UCLA passed the ball 70 times. In that game they only called 10 run plays. That type of balance could get a backup QB in spot of trouble, especially against teams that have good pass defense and a good pass rush.

The bottom line is that UCLA needs to have both Fafaul and Modster ready to run the offense because they cannot wait for Rosen’s nerves to start firing. When Rosen is ready, he will be back.
