The UCLA Basketball team started off their season with an exhibition game against Cal State LA, winning 95-57. Go Joe Bruin Editor Mike W.R. and author Jessica Chaoui break down the Bruin’s victory in a video recap.

It was great to be back in Pauley Pavilion. Hearing the Solid Gold Sounds of the UCLA Band. Watching the Dance and Spirit teams get the crowd going. Even listening to The Den as they cheered the loudest when UCLA Basketball did something fantastic which was often. Yes, it was good to be back in Pauley Pavilion for some UCLA Basketball and they did not disappoint.

Jessica Chaoui and I talk about the game that was as several players made statements in the first game of the season. Most surprising to both of us was freshman PG Aaron Holiday who stole the show with a 15 point, 7 rebound, 5 steal and 4 assist performance.

Holiday was impressive, but the human highlight reel for last night was Isaac Hamilton who had a team-high 20 to go along with 8 rebounds.

Hamilton was hitting shots from all over the court and made a huge statement in this first game of his second year with UCLA.

In all, five Bruins scored in double figures as Jonah Bolden (11), Bryce Alford (13) and Tony Parker (14) were all getting in on the action as the Bruins outmanned Cal State LA. Bolden, though quietly, captured the game’s only double-double as he added 11 rebounds.

Going back to Parker, despite having a dominating game, he still managed to foul out. Got to clean that up, sir! Still, it was an exhibition game so expect a lot of things to be cleaned up.

We also talk about who some of the surprise players were as we present the first Go Joe Bruin video recap of the season. Enjoy!

Note: We did not have the final box score when shooting, so below are the staictics we allude to in the video.
