DING DING! It is all over in Westwood as the UCLA Bruins (17-12, 9-7) blew away the Washington Huskies (15-12, 4-11) 88-66. This game was a combination of “beat down” and “didn’t show up” as the Bruins bounced back in a big way from a rough road trip in Arizona. With questions of UCLA being a “bubble team” surfacing, it was important for the Bruins to put on a show and that they did as they destroyed Washington to stay perfect at home in conference play.

NO THANKS TO ESPN!!! …the Bruins started out of the gate like a horse on Prozac. UCLA jumped out to a 11-2 lead with just over three minutes into the game and four minutes later, they had a 19-5 lead. And the, to make a long story short, the Bruins man-handled the Huskies.

It was brutal.

Washington started the season 11-0. They even beat two ranked teams. Yet once again, Washington takes a dive in the Pac-12. This game they played against the Bruins was basically more of the same for them, but just as well, it was exactly what UCLA does at home. Play tough on both ends and limit the opponent’s chances.

UCLA was in total control in the first half which lead to a 46-25 halftime lead. The Bruins were on fire from the field (64.5%) while the Huskies once again struggled (29%). Though the Bruins have been prone to some suffocating defense, they barely needed any as Washington continued the collapse into themselves.

It was quite depressing.

The second half was more of the same as UCLA kept up their offensive barrage. Tony Parker, who was heavily missed in the last two games, came alive with 20 points and 5 rebounds. The same went for Norman Powell who was in full force at Pauley as he finished with 24 points and 7 rebounds.

There was also an assist party in the house as Isaac Hamilton and Bryce Alford finished the night with 10 and 7, respectively.

As stated before, the Bruins put a whooping on the Huskies. Not only was it good for their resume, but now they have  some positive momentum going into the weekend. Let us hope they can continue the beatings when Washington State comes to Pauley Pavilion on Sunday, followed by USC on Wednesday to finsih the season.

Go Bruins.
