UCLA Fall Camp Day 5 Recap: Injuries, Linebackers, and Hits

Day Five of UCLA fall camp was that first day in pads and guess who was there? Go Joe Bruin was. It was a hot one in San Bernadino today and the team came to play in a full squad scrimmage, where the defense held the advantage. It looked like there was one serious injury today and a few key guys did not participate. For the most part, it was just another normal day in fall camp.

A quick injury update. WR Sam Handler appeared to land wrong on his leg and was not able to put weight on it. No word yet on the extent of the injury. Up front LT Malcolm Bunche did not practice and Alex Redmond missed his second straight practice. Freshman linebacker Zach Whitley was seen walking around with a neck brace, which is, obviously, never good to see. WR/TE Thomas Duarte and RB Jordon James both missed practice today as well.

The defense looks great out there and the unit is making plays all over the field.

The linebackers were a big focus today and true freshman ILB Kenny Young is really turning some heads. OLBs Deon Hollins and Aaron Wallace were getting snaps before Kenny Orjioke today.

It was the normal bunch that stood out today at camp. WR Eldrdige Massington continues to impress this camp and Fabian Moreau is just doing Fabian Moreau things and locking down receivers. Another guy who has been really impressive this first week of camp is DB Tahaan Goodman and he continued that today.

Continue to stick with us throughout the remainder of fall camp as we will be here with updates everyday.
