Along with the fervor of award watch lists, conference previews and pre-season polls, another trend has made its way into the college football culture: the alternate uniform. Yes, even at UCLA, it seems we pine for the new gridiron fashion for the upcoming year and good news Bruin fans, the newest alt uni is here! This morning, Adidas unveiled the newest garb for the 2014-15 UCLA Bruins football team: ‘LA Steel’.

What Adidas dubs as a “Tribute to L.A.”, the first thing that jumps out is the fact that it looks like last season’s ‘L.A. Midnight’ uniforms, but there are some subtle differences. Instead of an all-black uniform, this one has a greyish-smoky tint. Along with Adidias’ TECHFIT design, if you look closely, the underlying pattern is barb-wire shaped. Also, the blue and gold shoulder stripes have a steel plate feel to their design.

One thing that did stick out with the L.A. Midnight is that it had a mustard-colored face mask. This looks to be an all-black helmet and face mask with the UCLA script in gold. And did you get a load of the under shirt and gloves? Good heavens!

Now which game will these be used for? Stanford? Oregon? Arizona? Memphis???
