With the start of summer sessions at UCLA, several student-athletes are getting a jump on the 2014-15 season. It is the first time these young adults are coming to UCLA as proper Bruins and their careers in Westwood start now. It will be a long journey, but one that will benefit them in the end. With a new chapter beginning, the efforts of UCLA recruiting has solidified as these athletes are now part of the UCLA Family, so here at Go Joe Bruin, we want to say “WELCOME, BRUINS!”

Women’s Basketball

The Bruins have the #1 recruiting class in the nation. And why not? All five Bruins rank in the Top 40 high school players (rankings according to ESPN.com): #4 Jordin Canada, #8 Lajahna Drummer, #19 Recee’ Caldwell, #26 Kelli Hayes and #38 Monique Billings. Is it basketball season yet?

Football

And do you think the football players are ready? Oh yeah! And excited as heck to be Bruins!

Once again, welcome! Now get back to your studies, workouts and nighttime Diddy Riese runs!

Oh yeah and here is some friendly advice in regards to UCLA:

-The Sculpture Garden in North Campus is the best place to chill and have some quiet time.

-Do NOT cut through any of the medical buildings. You WILL get lost.

-Try jogging through campus in the morning, it is beautiful.

-Stop asking about the construction, okay?

-The bowels of Powell Library are spooky as hell at night.

-Don’t walk on the third step from the bottom on Janss Steps. Or is it the fourth? Or fifth?

-Take it all in.
