UCLA and Adidas are honoring one of the all-time great Bruins, “The Captain” Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, also known as Lew Alcindor. Earlier today, an image popped onto the internet showing a pair of basketball shoes called “The Blueprint”. It is a new model based on Adidas’ ‘Crazy 8’ line.

The shoes will make their world debut tonight as the Bruins will be wearing them in their contest against Colorado. Colored in UCLA Blue, the shoe has an mage of the UCLA great and his signature on the tongue. It is also emblazoned with his number “33” on the back and by the toes at the bottom of the tongue.

Back when he was at UCLA, Abdul-Jabbar was known as Alcindor. His name may have changed, but his game never did. Alcindor was the definition of dominance.

Alcindor/Abdul-Jabbar is  one of the most iconic figures to play for UCLA and legendary coach John R. Wooden. In his Bruin career, he collected 2325 points and 1367 rebounds and even won a National Championship every year he was at UCLA. He is truly one of greatest to ever play the game.

Here is to you, “Captain”! UCLA plays Colorado at 6 p.m. PT on ESPN2, tonight.
