Ex-UCLA Bruin Reeves Nelson Is Playing On Lakers’ Summer League Squad

If you forgot, the face of horrible UCLA basketball the past couple of years — all aggregated into one Sports Illustrated article — has been Reeves Nelson, a total bad-ass who had a total lack of regard for his teammates, coaches and supposed friends.

Nelson was kicked off the UCLA basketball squad at the beginning of the 2011-12 season for disciplinary issues. Then, it wasn’t his first offense, and we learned that it was somewhere closer to his 100th when Sports Illustrated came out with a story entitled “Not the UCLA way,” which painted Nelson in the worst possible light.

Nelson then went to Lithuania for a little while and was subsequently released, proving that he’s probably a terrible human being, borders be damned.

But nice guys finish last, as they say, and now, Nelson is now a member of the Los Angeles Lakers’ summer squad which consists of rookies and prospects as well as younger, unaccomplished players. Check the tweet from Mike Bresnahan of the L.A. Times:

Of course, we had some fun with this too:

Yes, we know Reeves was a Bruin and we shouldn’t ride on him so hard, but it’s one of those things where he was so devoted to being an asshole and a crappy teammate, that it’s tough to enjoy that another UCLA product is dressing in purple and gold.

Of course, we’re glad that Nelson will be promptly kicked out if he starts his shit again, and perhaps it’ll get his butt into shape. NBA teams don’t mess around and have enough talent to just shoo away players who are a nuisance that aren’t getting paid yet.

So we’ll sit here, waiting, and pretend to act like we hope Nelson gets a gig with the Lakers, even if we have to clinch our teeth to do so.
