UCLA Football Recruiting: 5-Star Auburn Commit Carl Lawson Wants To Visit UCLA

If you thought UCLA’s football recruiting class was in trouble (you’re crazy, if you thought that), then you might want to renege.

Because 5-star Auburn commit Carl Lawson, a defensive end out of Georgia and fifth in the ESPNU 150, wants to visit UCLA. Check it:

If you’ve been out of the loop with UCLA recruiting, then you’ve missed the strong recruiting presence that Jim Mora and company have built in the deep South, namely Georgia, where top UCLA commits Keyante Green and Eddie Printz currently reside.

Obviously, landing Lawson will be a coup beyond words. The dude is an absolute animal at defensive end and at every other position on the defensive line. In Lou Spanos’ 3-4 defense at UCLA, Lawson could very well play outside linebacker — to better utilize his pass-rushing prowess — as well as on the defensive line (since all positions on the D-line in a 3-4 are essentially defensive tackle).

He’s freaking explosive and a monster athlete, which is why he’s the fifth best overall recruit in the nation.

The kid should be recruited as hard as possible, although chances are, UCLA is already on top of it. (UCLA has a much more established recruiting presence in Georgia right now than South Cal does.)

If you were worried about the recruiting, with commitments and decommitments flying, this is exactly why you shouldn’t worry and stress over recruiting until late this year. Although Lawson is a commit for Auburn, he’s still looking at joining schools like UCLA, in the same vain that Ellis McCarthy did last year.

We’re excited, and we hope the staff continues to have its shit together to make a run at this bro.

GO BRUINS!!!
