UCLA Basketball: Top 2014 PG Jackson-Cartwright has UCLA among top schools, UCLA is showing love back

A video of top point guard recruit for class of 2014, Parker Jackson-Cartwright:

Here at GJB, we don’t normally cover UCLA recruiting news, on the basketball or football level. We don’t know why. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that commits tend to do exactly the opposite of “commit” and flip from school to school as if the word “commitment” is just some kind of term for crazy people.

Still, we feel it’s important to pass along information that we find on our network, here on Fansided. And, of course, Fansided’s SDSU blog, Surf the Spear is on top of everything. This time, he reveals that the top-rated point guard of the 2014 recruiting class, Parker Jackson-Cartwright, has UCLA among his top five schools, while UCLA is one of three schools that he acknowledges are recruiting him hard. From STS:

"Question: What universities are in your top 5? What are the 5 universities that you have been in contact with the most?Parker: My top five universities in no particular order are UCLA, Arizona, Connecticut, Georgetown, and Pennsylvania. The schools that have heavily contacted me are UCLA, Arizona, and USC."

Oh nice!

The good thing is that we’re in need of a legitimate point guard in the long-term, and though the 2014-15 season seems far away, it’s important to note that UCLA signee Kyle Anderson is likely a one-and-done, especially if he has the explosive season we expect him to have. Having the top PG recruit in 2014 — according to ESPN — will definitely give us a little bit of long-term stability.

STS asks Parker Jackson-Cartwright a ton more questions and really gets after it, so please, check the entire article out when you get a chance.

Of course, you’re going to have to wait about two years to hear his announcement, we’re sure. Hopefully by that time, we become an elite basketball program again and we can celebrate this commitment as if it’s just another day at the office.

GO BRUINS!!
