1994 Rose Bowl: Donahue’s final New Year’s Day bowl

In his career, Terry Donahue led the Bruins to three Rose Bowl wins, but New Year’s Day 1994 marked eight years since the 1986 Rose Bowl win over Iowa. It was clear that the program was fading despite taking the conference title with eight wins.

UCLA fell 21-16 to the Wisconsin Badgers in Pasadena and finished the season No. 18 in the AP Poll. It would be the last time a Terry Donahue-coached UCLA team finished the season ranked.

In the game, UCLA’s J.J. Stokes set Rose Bowl records with 14 receptions and 176 receiving yards, both of which have since been broken.
