GJB: Any other information we should know?

Jeff: I think it might help if we explained the structure of The Den and how it’s managed and operated: So there is a student group on campus called “The Den Operations Club”. As the name suggests, this is an open club for all UCLA students to join to bring their ideas on how to make The Den better as well as help us staff events like Den Shirt Day, Champed Up, etc.

This club has an executive board of 9 people whose positions are as follows:

President (myself), Vice President (Kyle), Creative Content Director, Greek Life Coordinator, Game Day Operations Commissioner, Outreach Coordinator, Dirt Editor, Social Media Director, and Internal Affairs Coordinator.

This team of students work directly with the athletic department to be the voice of the students, continue to grow The Den, and run The Den.. I guess what I want to communicate is that there is a team of anywhere from 40-50 students who are constantly working towards making The Den awesome. Nobody loves UCLA more than this group of people!

Kyle: Not to be overly repetitive, but something you should know is that we’re really always looking for ways to make the Den better! If you have any ideas on ways in which we can improve the Den and/or better engage students, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We love hearing from fans about ways in which we can continue to grow, and Jeff and I are both extremely passionate about helping the Den continue to develop.

GJB: Lastly, why is The Den the best student section in college sports (you know it is!)?

Kyle: The Den is the best student section in college sports because of the tradition we bring to the table. Obviously our Bruin teams have quite a legacy of winning on the field, but we like to think that our student section has a legacy of equal greatness. From exciting in-game traditions at basketball games to the noise of a packed Rose Bowl student section screaming their heads off, no one can match the combination of enthusiasm, passion, tradition, and dedication that the Den brings to each and every UCLA sporting event. Our teams deserve the best, and we take immense pride in doing everything we can to support them in the best way possible and be the greatest student section the world has ever seen!

Jeff: I agree with Kyle. What makes us the best is that we are tasked with upholding the historic traditions of UCLA Athletics. It’s something we take great pride in doing. Anyone who has attended UCLA, worked for UCLA, or has been a part of the UCLA community knows how special of a place it is. We all know that special feeling that UCLA fills us with inside. The Den captures that feeling. I have such a hard time explaining what UCLA means to me to people unfamiliar with the school. If they could spend a day in The Den, they’d understand what being a Bruin is all about. I don’t think many other student sections can say the same.
