UCLA Football: NCAA names UCLA uniforms as one of CFB’s best for 2017

On Sunday, the NCAA released an article that highlighted some of the best new uniforms across the college football landscape. You best believe the new UCLA Football uniforms made that list.

Already well documented here at Go Joe Bruin, the new UCLA Football uniforms by Under Armour have gotten plenty of people talking about how their Bruins will look when they take the field Sept. 3 against the Texas A&M Aggies.

It’s one thing for us here to talk about what we think of the new uniforms but for the NCAA to showcase the Bruins in an article is something completely different.

For as long as many of you care to remember, the Oregon Ducks have run the uniform Olympics and used that type of hype to draw in recruits. It didn’t matter how ridiculous or ugly I may have thought some of the combinations looked, it got people talking about the Ducks.

UCLA Football meanwhile struggled to remain relevant in the uniform game while attempting to stay true to tradition. The results weren’t always pretty or well received.

It does seem now though that the UCLA Football squad may have found the perfect marriage with new athletic supplier Under Armour.

The article doesn’t just draw attention to the UCLA Football team. There are a few PAC-12 teams named including Utah, Washington State and Arizona that will field some eye brow raising uniforms in 2017.

Boise State and most surprisingly Penn State will also take the playing field in some new duds when the season kicks off. The Nittany Lions will show off their new uniforms on Sept. 30 against Indiana.

While the new uniforms are certainly catching the attention of the national media and will be a great recruiting tool, the UCLA Football program needs to make sure that they take full advantage of the attention by notching some big wins.

I can say that I’m excited to see the clashes of new uniforms in 2017 when the Bruins visit both Utah and Arizona.
