UCLA Basketball Head Coach Steve Alford called in to The Dan Patrick Show and discussed LaVar Ball and the special talent that is his son, Lonzo Ball.

Steve Alford set the record straight Wednesday morning when he went on The Dan Patrick Show and talked about LaVar Ball and his talented son, former UCLA Basketball point guard, Lonzo Ball.

With the distractions that LaVar Ball brings everywhere he goes, he got some praise from Alford on the Fox Sports radio show.

Alford spoke about how certain things were discussed in the recruitment of Lonzo which were apparently never a problem.

"LaVar has never been a distraction, you know, to us. I think that was established in the recruiting process, that’s all part of it. We do the coaching and you got to put your trust in us that we are going to do what’s best for your son. So LaVar was great. I never got a phone call, was never at practice, was never a distraction to our team at all."

Alford also talked about his former point guard and what a phenomenal player he was. The Bruin coach talked about his many skills and how Lonzo can beat his opposition in many ways.

The most interesting take was when Alford commented on Ball’s approach to winning certain games,  “I can remember talking to my assistants on the bench and saying, ‘I don’t think Lonzo is going to take a shot in this game. I think he is literally going to try and win this game without taking a shot’, very similar to what he did in the McDonald’s All-American Game.”

With so many distractions, we forget about the person that all the focus should be on, Lonzo. He is an incredible player, unselfish and really knows the game of basketball. Many expect him to be the second player chosen in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers.
