It was Practice #8 for the UCLA Football team and Head Coach Jim Mora had a lot to say about individual progress, filling the roster and minor injuries.

UCLA Football Head Coach Jim Mora talked to the media on Monday and had a lot of praise for several players, especially the young ones. He also addressed some other key items with the Bruins.

Mora was asked about what players “flashed” in his opinion. The Bruins’ coach was not short on mention players he thought were making strides.

Young players like TE Jordan Wilson, WR Demetric Felton and WR Audie Omotosho were all recognized as making strides, especially having a year under their belt. Mora went above and beyond in praising DL Marcus Moore and is hoping to get him to play on special teams.

“I think our defensive line has a chance to be really good.” Mora named almost every D-linemen as those that have progressed and slightly gushed when naming Martin Andrus and Greg Rogers being added in, both of who will join the team in the fall. “Its a pretty dynamic group, so thats exciting.”

In news from the runners, Jalen Starks will play running back and fullback until they find another full time FB. Though he is built more for the fullback position, he has been doing very well handling the ball from the running back position, which Mora hopes he can stay with.

“At this point in time, it doesn’t look promising.” Those were Mora’s words when asked if TE Devin Asiasi could become eligible to play this season. Asiasi might have to sit out a year due to transfer rules. He left Michigan after one year. He has adapted quickly to the Bruins’ scheme and has been impressive in fall.

Mora also confirmed that he is looking for graduate transfers and walk-ons to help fill the roster, especially offensive line. Due to recruiting rules, he cannot name players, but thinks UCLA might have a chance with a few.
