The UCLA Basketball team received their 6th signed letter of intent as 3-star small forward Chris Smith has made his commitment official today.

The UCLA Basketball team is reloading in a big way as they have received their sixth LOI for the 2017 class as Chris Smith (Huntington Prep/Huntington, WV) has made his commitment official.

Smith is the third small forward to commit to the Bruins for 2017, though it does not exactly create a logjam since UCLA has been devoid of SFs for the last several seasons. He will most likely play a backup role for the Bruins behind another incoming freshman, 5-star Chris Wilkes, but his skills will be very important to this team.

At 6’8″, 190 lbs., Smith is a very agile athlete that can drive the lane or hit shots from the outside. He can sink spot-up baseline jumpers, but also has Lonzo Ball-esque distance as he has no problem hitting threes from NBA range,

Smith is not afraid to drive the lane and has no problem going right as his opponents. He has to work on his defense and his speed, but for the most part he will be a welcomed addition the Bruins, especially as a shooter, since UCLA lost their top seven scorers.

Smith joins Wilkes, PG Jaylen Hands, SF LiAngle Ball, PF Cody Riley and C Jalen Hill which makes up the 2nd best recruiting class for the 2017 season, according to Scout.com, just behind Kentucky.
