UCLA Football Recruiting: 3-Star DE Odua Isibor Commits to UCLA

The UCLA Football team received another commitment as Arizona defensive end Odua Isibor has committed to the Bruins.

UCLA Football Defensive Line Coach Angus McClure continues to have success in recruiting as he landed his fifth commit for 2017.

This morning, Odua Isibor (St. Mary’s HS/Phoenix, AZ) made his commitment to the Bruins, bringing the UCLA’s overall total to 15 and making Isibor the sixth player to commit since the start of January.

With two weeks until National Signing Day, the Bruins have really picked up the pace in recruiting. UCLA started strong the 2017 recruiting cycle strong, but have also had an uncommon amount of decommitments.

That trend has definitely reversed itself.

At 6’5″, 235 lbs., Isibor will most likely see time in the pass rushing role. He will need to cultivate some mass for the position, but his raw talents are something the Bruins will be able to utilize in the future.

For more information, I asked Go Joe Bruin recruiting analyst Michael Hanna about the newest commitment.

“Isibor is a project but one with huge physical upside. A little light for a DE right now but he has the frame to carry at least 50 more pounds without a problem and be a long-armed, athletic, powerful strong side defensive end with range.

“Those are hard to find ready-made out West so you usually have to develop them and it’s a good bet that a kid as eager and as smart as Isibor (who officially visited Yale) is going to put in the work and accept the tutelage necessary to become that kind of a beast on the defensive line.”
