The UCLA Basketball team moved up three spots in this week’s AP Poll after winning the Wooden Legacy tournament and starting 7-0.

Your UCLA Basketball team is climbing the charts! Well, polls, but you get what I am saying.

The Bruins are off to a hot start in this 2016-17 season and after going 7-0, which was capped off by a 74-67 win over the methodical Texas A&M Aggies in the Championship Game of the Wooden Legacy, they are now the 11th best team in the nation.

Before the tournament, UCLA was averaging over 100 points a game. Though tough battles against Nebraska and Texas A&M brought that average down, they are still the third best scoring team in the nation with 96.9 ppg.

Though UCLA did not blow out their last two opponents, they played two solid games that had the Bruins fighting until the very end of the contest. Not only did they control they game, but they  closed things out as they took care of business to win the Wooden Legacy.

That is definitely a change from last season.

The Bruins next play Wednesday at Pauley Pavilion against UC Riverside. Then they travel to take on the #1 Kentucky Wildcats at Rupp Arena on Saturday, which will be the Bruins’ first real challenge of the season. It will also be a chance to make it two-wins in a row over UK after the Bruins defeated then-#1 Kentucky at Pauley Pavilion last season, 87-77.
