The UCLA Women’s Basketball team’s junior point guard Jordin Canada was named to the Nancy Lieberman Award watch list.

It is going to be a great season for the UCLA Women’s Basketball team and junior point guard Jordin Canada is a big reason why.

Canada is one of the most talented and entertaining players to play for the Bruins in a while and has been an essential part of their recent success. Because of this, she is among 20 players named to the Nancy Lieberman Award watch list which honors the nation’s top point guard in collegiate women’s basketball.

Ever since Canada got to Westwood, she has been a major piece in the resurgence of UCLA Women’s Basketball. In her freshman season, she led the Bruins to an NIT Championship over West Virginia with a 31-point performance.

Last season, Canada partnered with senior Nirra Fields in the back court to lead the Bruins to a 26-9 record and a return to the Sweet Sixteen.

Though Fields has moved on, the Bruins are expected to continue that success going into the 2016-17 season. Last week, the Bruins were chosen to win the conference at Pac-12 Media Day.

Canada is a big reason for that. As a sophomore, she led the Bruins in scoring with 16.1 points per game and assists with 5.7. She made the All-Pac-12 and All-Defense teams which was sweetened with an All-American honorable mention.

Canada is the real deal and if you have not seen this spitfire in action, you need to get out to Pauley Pavilion because she will not only turn heads this season, but she will take this team far. Final Four, anyone?
