Go Joe Bruin is back to predicting the game as the UCLA Football team welcome the Utah Utes to the Rose Bowl. Here is what our writers had to say.

The UCLA Football team needs to get things in gear ASAP or there will be nothing to play for at the end of the season.

If UCLA wants to stay alive in the South, it is going to be difficult, especially with Division leader Utah coming to town. The Bruin and Utes have matched up pretty well in recent years, but this game is one of the most important for UCLA.

Surprisingly, we were not unanimous in our predictions, which could be a good sign. Or the optimists will be let down one more time. Here is how Go Joe Bruin predicts UCLA vs. Utah:

Josh Rosen plays and the Bruins come out to play in a game that may or may not give us false hope for the rest of the season. While Rosen does play, Kennedy Polamalu finally figures out he doesn’t have to let him get beat up and we see some life from the running game somewhere in the ballpark of 100 yards. Defensively we play much better when our defense gets a chance to breathe.

Rosen plays. Surprisingly, the offensive line has a slightly easier job of it against a depleted and secretly bad Utah defensive front. The run game gets just enough traction to give Rosen time to move the offense. The defense holds really tough.

Rosen plays a solid game against a tough Utah defense and ultimately leads the Bruins to a much needed victory at home.

Utah 10 – UCLA 9

UCLA and Utah engage in a battle that sets back offense 50 years. In a battle that’ll be decided by defense, special teams, and grit, I’ll take the coaching staff that specializes in those fields and pick Utah to win at the Rose Bowl.

Looking back on this team, they are channeling the 2004 Bruins. The team that goes 6-6, the team that ended the year in the Vegas Bowl with David Koral rolling to his right and getting murdered on the field… that team is eerily similar to this team.

Utah, outside of the freaking Cal game, have showed they can hang, they have shown they have good defense and their offense is good enough and better than ours. And because of that, Utah has the edge.

There’s hope in the air! With rumors of a Rosen start, the Bruins can exploit an injured Utah team and snag the win. If this isn’t when UCLA takes control of its destiny, I don’t know when it will be.

As they do, UCLA will do the opposite of what is expected of them. Many believe the Utes will win this game (mostly Bruin fans), but UCLA will come out and push Utah around a bit. They will not dominate, but do enough to edge Utah. They will get a rushing touchdown, a Darren Andrews receiving touchdown and two field goals by J.J. Molson with the second splitting the uprights with 1 minutes left in a game. The defense then has a stop to end the game. Fingers crossed.
