It is the final game of the regular season for the UCLA Basketball team as they face the Oregon State Beavers who are fighting for a spot in the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins, not so much.

It is the final game of the regular season for the UCLA Basketball team and not much is on the line, at least for the Bruins.

Oregon State is still in contention for a spot in the NCAA Tournament, so this game will not be a “gimme” for UCLA.

The last time, these two teams played, the Bruins beat the Beavers in Corvallis 82-73 in a game that almost looked too easy. Since then, UCLA seems to have regressed while Oregon State has steadily maintained a near .500 performance.

Steve Alford‘s seat is quite hot right now, so he needs this win, if only to prevent the temperature from rising. The Bruins are currently 2-6 in their last eight games so their hopes for a late season run and a chance for the NCAA Tournament vanished a few weeks ago.

Right now the Bruins are playing for pride, especially with this being their last home game of the season. On top of that, it is Senior Day, so look for Tony Parker to have a solid game in his last appearance in Pauley Pavilion.

Still, the Bruins will have their hands full with OSU’s Gary Payton II who leads the Beavers in most categories, so which ever Bruin is assigned the task to defend him (Bryce Alford, Isaac Hamilton or Aaron Holiday) will really need to put the clampdown in order to slow down Oregon State all together.

Prediction: Oregon State 62 – UCLA 67
