Tempers and temperatures have been rising lately as UCLA Football is starting to feel the heat at fall camp at Cal State San Bernardino. The Bruins started their two-practice per day regimen to kick things up a notch as Week 1 of the preseason came to an end. The Bruins have tomorrow off after practicing at 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. today.

With the heat rising, the coaches had more of a walk-through in the morning and then executed their plan in the evening, which was moved back 45 minutes.

One of the big topics of the day was the scuffle on Friday between LB Myles Jack and OL Conor McDermott. Yes there was a fight, but everyone has moved past it, at least that is the message Head Coach Jim Mora was conveying.

Another issue that was heavily talked about was freshman TE Chris Clark‘s status with mononucleosis. The highly recruited player out of Avon Old Farms in Connecticut has not participated in practice at all due to the illness but Mora was not going to rule out redshirting. Mora is positive Clark will be ready and even play in the first game of the season.

Freshman Tevita Halalilo had left practice due to the heat. It is the first such issue of fall camp.

And no, there was no new information regarding the quarterback competition between Jerry Neuheisel, Josh Rosen and Mike Fafaul.

Finally, the Bruins had an interesting bunch working on kick returns as Myles Jack, Mossi Johnson, Stephen Johnson III, Jordan Lasley and Aaron Sharp all participated. Ishmael Adams, who should lock down one of the KR spots, is still out with a minor ankle injury.
