It hasn’t been long since Norman Powell left the UCLA Basketball team, and while he went as a second round pick in the NBA draft, he has already begun to show off his “Ka-Powell” powers for the Toronto Raptors during the NBA Summer League.

People definitely had their doubts about Powell, but he is making it a point to prove them wrong. Since drafted, Powell has proven to take the leadership skills he gained while at UCLA to the big-time atmosphere of the NBA.

This past Friday in Las Vegas, Powell not only lead his team to a victory, but he scored a game-high 20 points against the Sacramento Kings. On Sunday, he did the same yet again, and lead the team with another game-high 19 points and a win over the Chicago Bulls. On Monday night, he put up another 19 points and five rebounds, giving the Raptors a 3-0 lead in the League with their win over the Houston Rockets.

Powell is killing it. He is certainly making an effort to stand out, and it is working for him.

Jama Mahlalela, the Raptor’s assistant coach, even said “The thing with Norman is [his] physicality. His strength is taking him ahead of everyone else right now. His ability to attack the basket, finish over big guys and then his shot’s falling down right now. When that’s happening he can be a special player.”

Powell is a great player and the Raptors are lucky to have him.
