Today, the 2015 preseason Maxwell Award watch list was released with 80 of the top Division I college football athletes looking to impress this fall and the Bruin’s own redshirt junior running back Paul Perkins has made the list. The Maxwell Award is given to the top college football football player in the nation per the Maxwell Football Club.

Perkins will be the #1 weapon on offense for the Bruins as he is returning a year removed from being the top rusher in the Pac-12. Perkins will have a chance to repeat as the conference’s top rusher behind one of the most experienced offensive lines in the country and what could be one of the best Jim Mora teams yet assembled.

Though UCLA has yet to name a starting quarterback, the Bruins should pick up right where they left off after a 40-35 victory over Kansas State in the Alamo Bowl, mostly due to the talent and leadership of Perkins.

But this is not all for UCLA football. Yesterday, Myles Jack and Ishmael Adams were named to the Hornung Award watch list. A few weeks ago, senior center Jake Brendel was named to the Rimington Trophy watch list. With several other award lists coming out in the next few weeks, expect even more Bruin players to be recognized prior to the 2015 season.
