UCLA Basketball: The Freshmen Are Bruin …and Moving In!

facebooktwitterreddit

It is move in day at UCLA! Just like we wrote about the in-coming freshmen for the UCLA Football team reporting to Westwood, the same goes for the four in-coming players that are the newest Bruins to join the UCLA Basketball team.

That is right Bruin fans, the next era in UCLA hoops begins with four exciting players that is headlined by 4-star guards Aaron Holiday and Prince Ali.

Although Holiday is more of a combo guard, he is the closest to a true point guard to play for head coach Steve Alford since the coach took over the Bruins two years ago. UCLA also boosts their shooting guard position with the addition of Ali who is an excellent scorer and can make shots from almost everywhere on the court.

Rounding out the in-coming freshman class is 3-star power forward Alex Olesinski who will take on a back-up role, but will none-the-less add some much needed bulk to the front court.

Though he is not technically a freshman, junior college transfer Ikenna Okwarabizie joins the in-coming players in this last recruiting class for UCLA basketball. “Ike” has some moves that are rather beastly. For a big guy, he can really move around underneath the basket and can handle the ball well for a center. Like Olesinski, Okwarabizie will look to come off the bench behind Tony Parker, Thomas Welsh and Jonah Bolden, who will also see his first time on the court next season after having to sit out a year due to eligibility issues.

Here are the stats for all the new UCLA basketball players:
