The UCLA Softball team is heading to the Super Regionals! After a monstrous weekend defeating CSUN, Texas and San Diego State in the Los Angeles Regional of the Women’s College World Series, the #7 Bruins will take on the #10 Missouri Tigers this coming weekend at Easton Stadium.

UCLA had played three games in three days and scored 21 runs whilst only giving up 2. TWO! Who does that? A team in the hunt for a championship, that is who!

UCLA Softball did not advance past the Super Regionals last year and had just missed on the Pac-12 Championship the weekend before last, so they should have a particular mindset going into this coming weekend. The Bruins built up such a resume this season that they earned themselves a #7 seed which guaranteed they would host the first two Regionals of the Women’s College World Series.

The home field advantage helped in the first weekend as the Bruins beat CSUN 9-1, Texas 4-1 and San Diego State 6-0.

On Friday against Cal State Northridge, the Bruins unloaded nine runs in the third and fourth innings to put the game out of reach early as the mercy rule was enacted.

On Saturday, UCLA had a their toughest contest of the weekend against the Longhorns. The Bruins had an early 3-1 lead with home runs from Stephany LaRosa and Delaney Spaulding. Allexis Bennett also helped out the Bruins with an early run. The game was capped when Maddy Jelenicki blasted one over the wall to make it 4-1, which is how the game ended.

On Sunday, the Bruins dominated and had San Diego State begging for mercy (rule). Part of that was due to the fact that Pac-12 Player of the Year Ally Carda won her third straight game in the regional bringing her to 29-6 on the season and pushing UCLA to 48-10.

The Bruins will now face Missouri in the best-of-three game Super Regional on the campus of UCLA. Game 1 will be played on Saturday, May 23 at 5 p.m. PT. Games 2 and 3 (if necessary) will be played on Sunday, May 24 at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.

All games will be shown on ESPNU. For Super Regional infornation, including tickets, visit uclabruins.com.
