In Episode 55 of the What’s Bruin Podcast, hosts Bill Shirley, Jake Merrifield and I welcome a very special guest, former UCLA basketball player, Tyler Trapani. Not only is he the great grandson of legendary UCLA coach John Wooden, but he is also a legend in his own right as he was the last player to score a basket at old Pauley Pavilion before it was renovated.

We get into all things regarding UCLA basketball with Trapani. He tells us some stories he remembers of his great grandfather, reminisces about his time playing ball under former coach Ben Howland, the experiences he had with former teammates and what it is like to go to The Big Dance.

Trapani also joins us as we chat about the current UCLA basketball team and what they need to do to get into the NCAA Tournament. But first, that all starts with the last game of the season against USC. FYI, Trapani is a true Bruin… he also has no love for the crosstown rivals.

We also get into some UCLA football talk as we discuss the hiring of former Penn State and West Virginia coach Tom Bradley as the new defensive coordinator. What does that mean for next Bruin football next season? We tell you!

Also joining is Go Joe Bruin writer Michael Hanna as he gives us his take on the new hire and what the Bradley defense should look like next season.
