What Happened To UCLA Coach Jim Mora’s Twitter Account?

Things got a little, um, awkward toward the end of the UCLA-Kansas State match-up in the Valero Alamo Bowl. As you can read about in What Happened With Jim Mora And Bill Snyder? A Closer Look, we analyzed the late and post-game theatrics involving a cheap play, an quick handshake and a resolution. Though it seemed to be quickly cleaned-up on the field, those on Twitter, as they do, dragged it on.

But something else came of it. Mora took to Twitter to defend his actions and rightly so. In a tweet that is no longer available, Mora simply stated:

"I will defend the safety of my players…forever."

The strange thing about the tweet no longer being available, is that Mora’s entire Twitter account seems to have disappeared as well.  Go ahead and search Twitter for @UCLACoachMora, we’ll wait…

… … …

You did not find it did you? Speculations points to the fact that his account has been deleted.

So why delete the account coach? Not that he was a serial tweeter, like some of us, but to be able to take in his knowledge via Social Media or to give him our thanks simply by pushing the ‘tweet’ button gives us a little bit of a connection with the cherished coach that has turned around this UCLA Football program.

Unfortunately, they opposite is true as it is possible Mora’s account (and his phone, if he tweets from there) got flooded with a plethora of messages from fans disturbed by Mora “disrespecting” K-State coach Bill Snyder.

First off, Snyder, whether to his knowledge or not, disrespected UCLA. The Bruins were going to kneel and run out the clock, then comes K-State’s last time out. Then on the next play, where UCLA was going to kneel again, a K-State player jumps over the line directly at UCLA QB Brett Hundley. Classy.

Secondly, Mora may be a very talkative and excited guy, but not very public. This might have lead to the deleting of the account. Which you cannot blame him. A lot of UCLA fans had to fend-off K-State fans and defenders of Snyder. Here at GJB, we had to ignore one of our own from the Fansided Network on Twitter who was giving us the business. Fine, do your thing, but look at all aspects of the situation before you attack one coach and defend another.

But still, there might be another reason…

With all these recent NFL head coaching jobs opening up, Mora has had his name listed with most of these teams. Could Mora be headed back to the NFL?

I HOPE NOT!

With that, we here at Go Joe Bruin say, “Haters gonna hate, Coach! But we still love you!”
