Since we last left the Bruins, they had just beaten Cal State Fullerton 73-45 in a game that experimented with some changes in a few different areas. The UCLA Bruins looked to improve their defense after a tough Battle 4 Atlantis, which saw some decent results, but with that other problems seems to arise, namely, the lack of production form the Bruin’s bench.

So the Burins have a few things to work out, who doesn’t this early in the season? After getting a wake-up call in the Bahamas, UCLA got their first taste of some real competition in the Battle 4 Atlantis as they came out of that tournament 1-2. Defense and free throws were the biggest issues the Bruins needed to concern themselves with and in the game against Fullerton, they not only addressed those problems, but showed some potential improvements.

Now can UCLA improve even more? That is what today’s contest will be about… staying consistent. That and trying to get more productions from their bench. Thomas Welsh seems to be the clear sixth man, but they will also need Noah Allen, Wanaah Bail and Gyorgy Goloman to step up when the starters sit down. If UCLA can get more out of them, they will be setting themselves up for success later in the season.

Prediction: San Diego 48 – UCLA 77
