UCLA Women’s Soccer Blank Harvard 7-0, Face Pepperdine In the Sweet Sixteen

Welcome to west coast soccer Harvard! The #1 UCLA Women’s Soccer team obliterated another opponent in the 2014 NCAA Tournament as they blanked Harvard 7-0 at Drake Stadium on Friday night. So far, the Bruins have shut out their last two opponents in the first two rounds of the tournament whilst scoring 12 of their own. Needless to say, these ladies are on fire right now.

Before we get into the goal scorers, give it up for goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland who had another shut out to extend her NCAA record to 54 games. To top it off, she added an assist for the second consecutive game. I guess you can say Katelyn is Rollin’! Moving on…

UCLA once again dominated. This game was no where near being close. Harvard got a few shots in for the game, but nothing compared to the barrage the Bruins gave. Sarah Killian had led all goal scorers with two as Kylie McCarthy, Rosie White, Taylor Smith, Darian Jenkins and MacKenzie Cerda all added one of their own to punish the Ivy League school and end their tournament hopes.

Last week Harvard won 6-0 in their first round game and looked to be a  viable threat. UCLA quickly shot down those assumptions with a game that was over by halftime when the Bruins were up 4-0.

The Bruins now look forward to playing #4 Pepperdine on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Drake Stadium after the Waves beat Illinois State 4-0. In the early match.

Go Bruins!
