What’s Bruin – Episode 46 – The Reggie Carter Episode And USC Vs UCLA – The Crosstown Showdown
In Episode 46 of the What’s Bruin Podcast, Bill Shirley, Jake Merrifield and I share a microphone with a former UCLA football player that happens to have one of the most iconic pictures in recent USC Vs UCLA history. That is right, it is none other than Reggie Carter that joins us for the “Beat SC” episode! The former linebacker and John David Booty-sacker joined us on this special Crosstown Showdown special as he not only relives his memories playing against the Trojans (and gives his insight on USC fans) but also talks to us about the up-coming game this Saturday at the Rose Bowl.

In ‘The Game That Will Be’ we dissect UCLA’s chances against their crosstown rival USC and get into what the Bruins need to do to be victorious against the Trojans for the third year in a row. Jake also gives you some USC trivia before we get into our preview… and why is that important? Well, Jake did not do trivia for Utah and Oregon and look what happened? Since then, he did trivia for Cal, Colorado, Arizona and Washington and UCLA got wins. He also did ASU trivia last episode and look what happened there… they lost to Oregon State! So pay attention to this episode and his trivia, because he will be unloading some truth about those pesky Trojans.
We then wrap up the show, with Mr. Carter’s help of course, as we talk about UCLA Women’s Soccer domination in the NCAA first round, Men’s Water Polo and Men’s Soccer as they prepare for the post season and finish up with some UCLA basketball talk… it gets looney! To end it all, we get into local sports with the ‘L.A. Sports Express’ as we discuss hockey, baseball off-season awards and L.A. hoops. FYI, Mr. Carter is a Kobe fan!
