#2 UCLA Men’s Water Polo Wins The NorCal Classic, Beats #1 Stanford

The #2 UCLA Men’s Water Polo team won the Kap7 NorCal Classic for the second straight time as they defeated #1 Stanford for the championship. The tournament that was held at University of the Pacific in Stockton, California pit UCLA, Stanford, #3 USC and #4 Cal in the final four of the 16 team event. The Bruins took down the Cardinal 9-7 to continue their unbeaten streak as UCLA is now 12-0 on the season.

  • The day started when the Bruins beat USC 9-7 in the tournament semifinals. UCLA had come back from a halftime deficit as they roared back with four second half goals. The Bruins also struck first for UCLA in the Crosstown Cup. In the third place game, Cal defeated USC 11-10.

    The day was not over.

    The Bruins lead most of the game as they got goals from Ryder Roberts (2), Paul Reynolds (2), Chris Fahlsing, Danny McClintock, Anthony Daboub, Cristiano Mirachi and Chancellor Ramirez. Stanford got close at one point when they tied the game 7-7 at the end of 3rd period, but Mirachi and Ramirez sealed the deal with two goals in the final frame. With that, UCLA got the victory and looks to take over the #1 spot in the country.

    UCLA next plays UC Irvine on Saturday, September 27 and will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
