Your 2013 National Champion UCLA Women’s Soccer team is starting the 2014 season off strong as they are the overall #1 squad in the country in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) preseason poll. The Bruins captured their first ever National Championship, and UCLA’s 110th, under first year head coach Amanda Cromwell and it does not look like it is stopping there. In fact, this Bruin team could be even better this year.
The Bruins return their top five players that accumulated the most points from last season. They also have eight players entering the program which consisted of the #4 recruiting class in the nation.
The season gets going August 15 in an exhibition game against #9 Texas A&M, with the official season opener a week later on Friday, August 22 against Maryland. As for a action packed schedule, the Bruins face three other teams that were listed in the Preseason Top 25: #4 North Carolina, #6 Stanford and #21 Wake Forest.
