Earlier today, the Maxwell Football Club announced 76 names to their Bednarik Award Watch list. The award, which is given to the ‘College Defensive Player of the Year’ listed two of UCLA’s top defensemen: Myles Jack and Eric Kendricks. These two Bruins are in good company, especially in their conference as the list includes a total of 13 Pac-12 defensive players like Oregon’s Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, Stanford’s A.J. Tarpley and USC’s Hayes Pullard. It will be one heck of a year in the Pac, that is for sure!

Jack and Kendricks are two of the most exciting Bruins on the defensive end and both being named to the pre-season watch list is no surprise. Last year, Jack was both the Offensive and Defensive Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. Not only was he a stand-out linebacker that shocked the college football world with his skill, but took it up a notch when he ran for 7 touchdowns on 267 rushing yards playing in a power formation on the offensive side of the ball. Kendricks did not make as much noise, but was definitely a force to be reckoned with as he led the Bruins in solo (62) and total (106) tackles. Look for him to lead the charge again in 2014-15.

With all this excitement, it might be hard to wait for the coming football season, but here at GJB we will try to contain ourselves and keep bringing you the most up-to-date information about UCLA football. Go Jack and Kendricks! Go Bruins!
