This morning, UCLA football quarterback Brett Hundley was named to the Maxwell Award watch list, which was compiled by the Maxwell Football Club. The award, which is given at the end of the season, honors “America’s College Player of the Year”. The list named 74 of the top (offensive) athletes from around the nation, which includes such notable figures as Florida State’s Jameis Winston and Oregon’s Marcus Mariota.

Hundley will be looking to lead the UCLA football team to one of the most exciting seasons in recent Bruin history. Not only is Hundley aiming for a successful season in the Pac-12, but will try to take the Bruins to the first College Football Playoffs. To add to that, he might also be looking at a record breaking year. Regardless of how you slice it, big things are in the future for the junior quarterback who is looking to build off of last season’s 10-win season that was capped by wins over USC and Virginia Tech in the Sun Bowl.

There is no doubt Hundley’s name will be mentioned repeatedly in the coming year, but to be named to a list that is eyeing the top players in the nation is special in and of itself. Go Hundley! Go Bruins!
