The UCLA basketball team and head coach Steve Alford are making good on their plans to start playing more and more quality teams in their non-conference schedule. It was recently announced that UCLA and Gonzaga would play a home-and-home series in the next two seasons. UCLA will host Gonzaga this coming season and then the Bruins would head to Spokane, Washington to play the Bulldogs the following season.

UCLA last faced Gonzaga in the 2006 NCAA Tournament. It is one of the most famous victories in recent UCLA basketball history. The Bruins, who were down by 17 at one point to the heavily favored Gonzaga team, managed to win the Sweet Sixteen game in the Oakland Regional behind Arron Afflalo, Darren Collison, Jordan Farmar, Ryan Hollins and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute.

It was a memorable time, indeed. Enjoy.
